See the Warm announcement below :

We are very excited to welcome the legendary Homoelectric and all their fabulous residents to the agency roster for worldwide bookings.

Homoelectric is an underground LGBTQ night from Manchester and is made up of five wonderful resident DJS: Luke Una, Gina Breeze, Jamie Bull, Will Tramp and Lukas.

Homoelectric is a non-stop off-piste dark discotek for homos, heteros, lesbos and don't knows. Into this place with no corners there is an alchemy from cosmic grooves, street soul, slo mo dance, boogie, black heart disco, us garage, house, technoid outerspace sonic science, bass buggin' rawness, odd numbers and vocals from heaven.

We are now taking worldwide bookings for Homoelectric nights and for all the amazing individual residents.’

Please contact ali@warmagency.com for all future booking enquiries

#StayHomo

#StayHomo was a 12 hour live stream featuring all the HomoElectric Residents plus extra special guests, Róisín Murphy, The Black Madonna, Erol Alkan, Jim, Horse Meat Disco, Krystal Klear & Jaye Ward.

My set was at 3PM just after a wonderful Cheddar Gorgeous introduction. I was amazed to see some of my closest friends pop up at the side while I was playing. The zoom room gave me such a huge boost and turned this into one of my favourite sets i’ve ever played. The energy was right up there with what I would feel when playing in a club (hard to achieve in such a strange environment)

I hope we raised a load of money but also lifted the spirits of many.

Here is my set on Youtube - relive the fun & donate if you feel you can

Big love

Words from Team HomoElectric:

“ We are honoured to present such an incredible line up for United we Stream. We approached all our queer family and Homoelectric heros and the response was overwhelming. It makes us very happy that our community is uniting to help people. We need light and love and yes money to support those in desperate need.
Our mental health is fragile and we thought we need to dance again. We also saw the huge amounts of money raised by United we Stream GM (more than a quarter of a million pounds) to help support our night time economy and Manchester homeless in this desperate hour.
We are also adding the wonderful The Albert Kennedy Trust to help our LGBTQ community. Things are tough and we need to help each other and give something back.”

Donations are still welcome here United We Stream GM

Fleshback : The Full Documentary

Queer Raving in Manchester's Twilight Zone

In the 1980s-1990s, Manchester’s queer clubbing scenes was localised around The Hacienda’s seminal queer party, Flesh and a club called Number 1. Aided by hit TV show, Queer as Folk, the city’s gay scene entered the mainstream in the late 90s.

The film explores this history while revealing all about those carrying the torch of alternative rave culture, featuring collectives such as Homo Electric, Meat Free, Body Horror, and High Hoops. Each have a different approach and musical feel, drawing in different crowds, yet sharing the same vision. The film uses archive footage in a way that’s voluntarily anachronistic in places, as a way to highlight the continuum between Flesh and The Hacienda, and the parties that are happening today outside of Manchester’s city centre.

The release of the film marks the 30 years anniversary since Section 28 was enacted. Section 28 was the last piece of homophobic law in the UK, and stated that councils should not "intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality" in its schools or other areas of their work. Section 28 was enforced in 1988 before it was repealed in Scotland in 2000 and then 2003 in the rest of the UK.

Steffi, DJ and promoter for Meat Free in Manchester says, “People are very honest up North, and big movements don’t always wash with the northerners. We’re not about branding or excluding people. Sexual identity is not at the forefront of our parties.”
